There are special events throughout the year; from midsummer evenings with Shakespeare, a Medieval Mêlée at the height of the summer to an evocative Victorian Christmas.

There are also musical performances, lectures on art and architecture, hands-on craft activities for children and medieval jousting.

Cardiff Castle ever-popular Christmas Tours return, to offer everyone a real flavour of a traditional Victorian Christmas. A warm welcome in the Interpretation Centre is followed by a tour of the Castle, beautifully decorated as it would have been when the Butes were in residence. Every child will meet Father Christmas who will be waiting with a special gift, and for the perfect end to the evening, Christmas carols, mulled wine and mince pies.
