1. Geography. Plan the Bay - Your Way

Plan the Bay - Your Way is a curriculum-based geography programme for children in years 5 or 6. The programme compliments the pack produced in conjunction with Cardiff LEA ‘Plan the Bay - Your Way' (The future sustainable development of Cardiff Bay).

We operate during school term. The itineraries for the day are flexible and usually include a boat trip and clay modelling. Half day and full day tours are available, catering for groups of up to 52 children.

2. Baywatch Explorer. Environmental Tours

Cardiff Harbour Authority offers curriculum-based environmental tours, which introduce children in Key Stage 2 to the wildlife and fascinating ecology of Cardiff Bay.

Half day and full day tours are available, catering for full classes of up to 52 children.

We will be operating from April until July every year. The itineraries for the day are very flexible and can include pond dipping, a boat trip and barrage tour.

3. Wetlands Walk

The Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve is an area of approximately 8 hectares, located on the northern shore of Cardiff Bay between St. David's Hotel and the River Taff. Easily accessible via a gravel walkway and board-walk, this area supports a rich diversity of plants and animals including invertebrates, fish and other wildlife to observe. A viewing area extends out over the water to provide ‘close encounters of the bird kind'.

4. Barrage Tours

The Cardiff Bay Barrage itself is 1.1km long and extends from Cardiff docks in the north to Penarth in the south. This major civil engineering construction project has created a freshwater lake with over 13km of waterfront.

The Barrage includes locks and bridges, sluice gates, and a fish pass. Well over a 1,000,000 visitors have experienced the barrage so far - so why not you!
