Public Art

Cardiff has a wonderful heritage of public art that has developed with the city over the past century - it forms part of the foundation of its public areas of which many visitors enjoy.

Much of the public art in Cardiff Bay represents the history of Cardiff itself and the importance of historic events and people, through to the more recent art pieces.

Public Art can be a powerful mechanism for conveying the heritage and history of an area.  Art found in Cardiff Bay relates in time and place to the area and to the Bay’s distinct identity. It can define specific areas and give a unique character and a strong sense of place. Most of the Art in the area is created by artists based in South Wales and are physically and visually accessible to the public.
