John Malkovich the Hollywood actor is a pro active partner in The Big Sleep Hotel. In April 2000 Malkovich got in to bed with 300 Welsh secretaries in the lobby of The Big Sleep Hotel. This unique event, billed as 'In bed with Malkovich' was filmed and transmitted live by The Big Breakfast morning TV show. Thousands saw it and subsequently read about it in publications around the world.

Malkovich personally endorsed and agreed to be a patron of Cardiff's bid for European City of Culture 2008.
