At Woods, our aim is to produce excellent consistent
food at a fair price, with efficient, knowledgeable staff in a bright
and friendly atmosphere.
Firstly, some history.....Woods Brasserie opened in its current location
in the Pilotage Building in Cardiff Bay in 1998.The Pilotage Building is
one of the last remaining souvenirs of Butetown, yet Woods offers a
modernist take on brasserie dining. Earlier this year we undertook a
redecoration, moving from minimalist neutral colours, to more vibrant
pinks and greens.
Our team is led by Operations Director Serge Luceau and Head Chef Wesley
Hammond. Originally from Perros Guirec, in France, Serge brings a wealth
of experience of working in French restaurants to Woods. Wesley,
originally from Pembrokeshire, joined the company in 2005 as Head Chef
at The Old Post Office, in St Fagans.
Many of our staff have been with us for several years and we do our best
to support them with proper training. All tips are pooled and shared
equally amongst all members of staff, from the kitchen porters right up
to the restaurant manager. Tips are in addition to, and do not
contribute towards our staff’s basic pay.
Our menus are seasonal, using local produce where possible. As much as
possible is prepared fresh on site daily. We have a range of menus to
suit all budgets from our lunch menu to pre opera menu, A La Carte to
our party menu for special occasions. During December we have a special
Christmas Menu, and on Sundays we offer a delicious Sunday Roast.
Finally, please remember to save room for our mouth watering desserts.
So whether you are looking for a latte, a spot of lunch, a romantic
dinner for two or a party for a special occasion, Woods can offer
fantastic food, attentive service in a superb location.
Alternatively, why not check out our Gastro Pubs; The New Conway in
Pontcanna or The Old Swan, in Llantwit Major.
